Football season is upon us, which makes it a perfect time to share this slow cooker pulled pork recipe! I’m not sure where I got this recipe, but I’ve been making it for years now. I know it sounds REEEALLLY weird to throw Coca Cola on your pork roast, but trust me on this one.
The other thing I love about this recipe is that it’s perfect for days that I work, since it’s an 8-10 hour recipe. So I can get home from work and not have to do anything, other than make a side dish. It’s also a perfect dinner for football Sundays. We don’t like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen on football days!
I usually buy a 2-3 lb. pork roast for this. Load it in your slow cooker and cover it with Cola. NOT DIET! Just regular cola. I do know some people who do this with root beer, but I haven’t tried it. * That plastic you see is a slow cooker liner. I use them when I use my slow cooker and they make cleanup a lot easier. I don’t feel like they change the taste at all. You can find them here.
It’s pretty ugly when all is said and done. Yikes.
Remove it and shred it with two forks.
Add your favorite BBQ sauce, to taste. We love Sweet Baby Ray’s.
We put these on sandwich rolls and serve with salad and fries or corn on the cob.
- 1 liter regular cola - give or take. Enough to cover the roast. I use Coke.
- 1 bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce - to taste, you may not use the whole bottle
- 2 lbs pork roast
- Place roast in slow cooker and cover with cola. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
- Remove from liquid, shred, pour on BBQ sauce and mix.
